There can be an optimal hand position for some cutters, and the adjustible nature of the link can help you get there. This is a complex shear that sometimes works well for certain hand types.

As always, a 6 will offer better balance than a 7 inch because of the even ration of blade to handle. Unless you are absolutely confident in a 7 inch, a 6 will be an easier place to start.
